Construct a homemade creation at the 10th Annual Gingerbread Day on December 3, 2016. The gingerbread is baked here at the museum and we are pleased to celebrate 10 years of building houses together!
Kids and adults alike have the opportunity to take part in an American tradition--building and decorating a gingerbread house. Gingerbread recipes appear in the oldest cookbooks. Ingredients like molasses, ginger, nutmeg, cinnamon, sugar and cloves give gingerbread its distinctive taste. During the colonial era, many of these ingredients were hard to come by making gingerbread a special treat.
There are three sessions available at 11 a.m, 12 a.m, and 3 p.m. Pre-registration is required and space is limited. A maximum of two people may work on each house. Kits costs $15 for members and $18 for non-members.
