Community Conversation: Black Studies Curriculum

The West Hartford African American Social & Cultural Organization (WHAASCO) and the Noah Webster House and Historical Society, in collaboration with the West Hartford Public Schools (WHPS), are hosting a Black History Month ‘Community Conversation’ on the subject of implementation of new Black Studies curriculum following passage of PA 19-12. The program will be presented virtually on February 21, 7 pm.
Panelists include Benjamin Foster, adjunct professor of African American studies at CCSU, and Representative Bobby Gibson, who led the campaign for inclusivity in teaching of America’s history. Representatives from the West Hartford Public Schools involved in roll out of the new curriculum will share their experiences with the new Black Studies curriculum.
