DESCRIPTION:WordHouse Reading Series                                                                             \nSaturday June 1\, 2p.m. – 4p.m. \n \n\nJoin us at the Noah Webster House for a series of FREE poetry readings\, hosted by James Finnegan\, West Hartford’s third Poet Laureate. These readings will take place from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. on February 17\, March 23\, April 6\, and June 1.\n\n\nEric Hoffman and Steven Ostrowski \nReading begins with an Open Mic. \nSteven Ostrowski is a widely-published poet\, fiction writer\, painter and songwriter. His novel\, The Highway of Spirit and Bone\, was published in 2023 by Lefora Publications and has been called “…a literary road trip for the ages.” His poetry chapbook\, Persons of Interest\, won the 2021 Wolfson Chapbook Prize and was published in 2022. Steven and his son Ben coauthored a full-length collaboration called Penultimate Human Constellation\, published in 2018 by Tolsun Books. Steven’s newest book of poems\, Life Field\, was published in early 2024. He is Professor Emeritus at Central Connecticut State University. His most recent publications include Unfinished\, the complete haiku of Sumitaku Kenshin\, and Inscribed Red\, a selection of haiku by Akutagawa Ryunosuke\, both published by Spuyten Duyvil. His newest collection\, Come and See\, a verse interpretation of John’s Gospel\, is forthcoming from Dos Madres Press. He lives in Vernon\, Connecticut.\n\nRead here for the most up to date information on speakers. All readings take place at the Noah Webster House and begin with an open mic. No registration is required. Each poetry reading is free and open to the public. Donations are greatly appreciated in order to support future programming at the Noah Webster House. The Noah Webster House will be open 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. during each reading and visitors are encouraged to purchase tickets to tour the historic home.
