The Museum offers a series of workshops for kids during February school vacation week. On each day, there will be two 3-hour workshops for kids ages 7-12.
Monday, February 18, 9 a.m. to noon Election Day Cake
Bake a traditional Hartford Election Day Cake. Election Day was
considered an important holiday in early New England. The cake was baked to celebrate it and on President’s Day too!
Monday, February 18, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Say Cheese
Kids won’t believe how easy it is to make their own cheese! We’ll make a lemon-herb cheese spread served with homemade crackers.
Tuesday, February 19, 9 a.m. to noon Hearth Cooking
A child’s favorite. Young cooks will use colonial recipes and cook over an open hearth the old-fashioned way! (space fills up quickly)
Tuesday, February 19, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Hand puppets
Children have been making hand puppets since the beginning of time! What’s especially fun about hand puppets is that each one can be unique and individual. Put on a puppet show when done!
The program fee is $25 per child, per workshop ($20 for museum members). Please pack your child a snack. Pre-registration is
required. Call the Education Department at (860) 521-5362 ext.14. Bring a bagged lunch when registering kids for both sessions!
Requests for refunds (minus a 10% processing fee) will be honored up to one (1) week before the start of the workshops. Full refunds will be given if the session is cancelled due to under enrollment.
If you would like more information about these workshops and other programs, please call the Education Department, or email
