This St. Patrick’s Day, we wish you Slàinte Mhath, or “good health!” We may not be able to gather for the museum’s traditional Tavern Night this year, but that doesn’t mean we can’t celebrate at all! Join us from the comfort of your own home on Saturday, March 20, 2021, for the museum’s first ever virtual A Taste of Ireland – To Go! The event includes a home-cooked dinner box to go and a virtual celebration of Irish culture. Enjoy our famous Irish Stout Steak Pie and accompaniments as you watch the mesmerizing dance moves of The Mulcahy Academy of Irish Dance and enjoy Irish ballads by the only all-female pipe band in the United States: Blue Skye Pipes and Drums.
A Taste of Ireland – To Go dinner box includes homemade Irish Stout Steak Pie, Irish soda bread, a vegetable, and dessert. Each dinner serves 4-6 people and is prepared in the Noah Webster House kitchen. If you’d like to toast Slàinte Mhath during the event, you have the option to add to your dinner a 4-pack sampler of New England Brewing Company beers and custom tasting glasses. Your dinner kit comes with a booklet with reheating instructions, Irish-themed puzzles, and the lyrics to some Irish ballads (so you can sing along with Blue Skye Pipes and Drums). Dinners will be available for pick up March 19 and 20 from 1-4 p.m. at the museum at 227 S. Main St., West Hartford, CT.
On Saturday, March 20 from 7-8 p.m., heat up your dinner, crack open a beer, and Zoom into our A Taste of Ireland – To Go virtual celebration. This Zoom event will be hosted by representatives of the Noah Webster House (link will be provided via email), with Irish step dance performances by the Mulcahy Academy of Irish Dance before Blue Skye Pipes & Drums takes the “stage.” Blue Skye will play St. Patrick’s Day favorites, incorporating Celtic instruments such as bagpipes, the harp, fiddle, and guitar.
The price for A Taste of Ireland – To Go dinner box is $60 (includes meal box that feeds 4-6 people, the virtual event with performances by the Mulcahy Academy of Irish Dance and Blue Skye Pipes & Drums, and your puzzle booklet). Add the four-pack of beer for an additional $15.
