WordHouse Poetry!

WordHouse Poetry is a monthly series of free poetry readings at the Noah Webster House, located at 227 South Main Street, West Hartford, CT.   Readings occur once a month on select Wednesdays from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm.      Join host James Finnegan, West Hartford’s third Poet Laureate, for an evening of poetry at the National Historic Landmark home of Noah Webster!

Each program begins with an open mic and features two headlining poets.    No registration is required and donations are greatly appreciated to support the not-for-profit museum.     See below for information on future readings.

Nadia Sims & David Thacker

Nadia Sims is the Poet Laureate for the Town of Manchester. Currently, the poet is focused on spreading her message of grace across CT, NY, and MA. The Princeton graduate is the proud author of “A Soft Place to Land”, “We Know the Dark” and her newly released collection “Prophet, Interrupted”. 

David Thacker is the author of Some Hard Stars (2026, Signature Books), and his poems have appeared in ImageThe Kenyon ReviewOrion, Ploughshares and elsewhere. He is a recipient of the Creative Writing Award from the Western Literature Association and a Pushcart Prize Special Mention. He teaches at The Ethel Walker School, where he directs the Visiting Writer Seminar.  You can learn more at davidthackerwriter.com
