WordHouse Poetry

Poetry is back at the Noah Webster House!

A series of poetry readings, WordHouse, has been organized by James Finnegan, West Hartford’s third Poet Laureate. These readings will take place on February 18, March 18, April 8, May 27, and June 10 from 2:00pm-4:00pm.

May 27’s event will feature readings by Christine Beck and Sharon Lattig 

Reading starts with an Open Mike

Christine Beck holds a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing degree from Southern Connecticut State University and is the author of Blinding Light (Grayson Books 2013), I’m Dating Myself (Dancing Girl Press 2015), and Stirred, Not Shaken (Five Oaks Press 2016). She has also written a book of poetry and prompts called Beneath the Steps: A Writing Guide for 12-Step Recovery. Christine Beck is a former president of the Connecticut Poetry Society and was Poet Laureate of the town of West Hartford, CT from 2015-17.  www.ChristineBeck.net 

Sharon Lattig is a poet and a theorist of poetry whose work has appeared in various outlets. Her recent book, Cognitive Ecopoetics: A New Theory of Lyric, was published in 2021. She holds an M.A. in Creative Writing and a Ph.D. in English, and currently teaches at UConn, Stamford as an Asst. Professor-in-Residence. In her other life, she is a professional figure skater.

All readings take place at the Noah Webster House and begin with an open mic. No registration is required.
