WordHouse Poetry

Poetry is back at the Noah Webster House!

A series of poetry readings, WordHouse, has been organized by James Finnegan, West Hartford’s third Poet Laureate. These readings will take place from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. on September 30, October 21, November 18, and December 9.

An afternoon of haiku and short poetry, featuring readings by:

Stanford M. Forrester, Denise Fontaine-Pincince and Tom Sacramona 

Program begins with an Open Mic

Stanford M. Forrester is a past president of the Haiku Society of America. He is the founder and managing editor of bottle rockets: a collection of short verse which is coming upon its 25th anniversary.  Stanford is the longest continuous editor of a haiku magazine in the United States.  His work has been featured on Japan’s NHK’s first TV episode of Haiku Masters where he lost to Bashō, as well as many other venues. His latest book is titled designated driver. Stanford’s Japanese pen name is Sekiro which means “dew on a stone.”

 

Denise Fontaine-Pincince often combines art with poetry. She is a member of The Sugar Maple Haiku Group, Cold Spring Poetry Group, and the New Resonance Haiku Community.  Co-founder of the Quabbin Art Association, Denise facilitates ‘Art with Poetry’ workshops for all ages. Her haiku and verse poetry can be found in numerous journals and anthologies, as well as the YouTube video, ‘ Haiku Gifts: art with poetry by Denise Fontaine-Pincince.’

 

Tom Sacramona served as an officer of the Haiku Society of America and editor of its journal Frogpond from 2021-2023 after joining the Society in his early twenties. He is now part of the bottle rockets crew and turned thirty last Thanksgiving. His poetry collections (existing or forthcoming) include: Light SpeedA Boy’s DrumAll Poet’s Go to Hell, and Hakuin’s Birthday. He’s working on a novella about a housefly.
