Margaret Gibson, the state Poet Laureate of Connecticut from 2019-through 2022, has published 14 books of poems, all with LSU Press, just recently DRAW ME WITHOUT BOUNDARIES. Prior to this experimental book of poetry and prose, Gibson brought out a trilogy, which includes Broken Cup, Not Hearing the Wood Thrush, and The Glass Globe, which won the Connecticut Book Award in Poetry. Her AWARDS include The Lamont Selection, Melville Kane Award, Connecticut Book Award (twice). She was a Finalist for the National Book Award, 1993, and for the Poets’ Prize, 2016. As Poet Laureate, and with a grant from the Academy of American Poets, she edited an anthology, Waking Up to the Earth: Connecticut Poets in a Time of Global Climate Crisis.
Heather Oakley is an actor, director, and educator who taught theater-related curricula in New York City for over twenty years. She trained at The Atlantic Theater Company’s Acting School and was invited to become a member of their faculty where she taught Meisner-based Moment Lab classes, Scene Study, and Film Acting to their New York University undergraduates and Conservatory students. Heather was also the Master Teaching Artist and the Educational Consultant for Atlantic’s Staging Success Program in New York City’s public schools. Heather is a graduate of Bryn Mawr College (AB) and Columbia University (MA).
